The tag says Jeffery Spike Patented in 1888 Used in 1892 in track laid over Lizard Head Pass, Colorado, by the narrow gauge Rio Grande Southern R. R. Tho designed By a Mr. Greer, employee of a Chicago railroad supply firm the spike became known by the name of Pres. E. T. Jeffery of the railroad. Spikes are used and show some rust, dings, bends, pitting and flaws from holding down the rails of the Rio Grande Southern. If interested I have more just let me know.
