what is designed to be used in the event of emergency landing of Soyuz descent module in a harsh, inaccessible environment, while waiting for the rescue teams. The thermal protective suit together with the cosmonaut's underwear, the flight and immersion suits enables the wearer to remain up to 72 hours in environments with an ambient air temperature of -50°C or warmer and a windspeed of up to 10 m/s. It also ensures survival for 12 hours while staying afloat at the water temperature of -1°C (30 degrees F) or warmer. The Russian abbriviation TZK stands for "teplo-zaschitnyi kostum" (thermal protective suit). Below are some facts about the suit what may be interesting:
developed at the Manufacturing Facility "Zvezda" - the original manufacturer of Russian spacesuits;
manufactured in 9 sizes: for chest girth from 37 inches to 44 inches, for height from 5.3 to 6 feet tall;
weight of the suit is not more than 7.7 pounds US.
operational with underwear, the flight suit and the "Forel" immersion suit (in case of splashdown);
